Blog Assignment 9

In this post, Mr. McClung writes about a lot of things that he has learned from teaching this year. I believe that everything he wrote can be useful for teachers of any age and with any type of degree. I agree with everything that he said and I find it all very important. The topics he discussed are to read the crowd, be flexible, communicate, be reasonable, don't be afraid of technology, listen to your students, and never stop learning. All of these are important in the occupational area of teachers. I posted a comment to Mr. McClung saying that his focus on creating a relationship with our students by listening to them is one of the most important things that a teacher can do. These children need to know that their teacher is more concerned about their educational growth than what the other teachers think of them.

  1. Katherine,

I'm thankful for Mr. McClung's blog. He had some great points for first-year teachers and what they need to expect or know as they began their teaching careers!! I agree with Mr. McClung about listening to our students. We might be the only one that is truly listening to them!

    Great blog!

  2. Katherine,

I was very thankful for Mr. McClung's blog post as well. It will help us as future educators in our first year to know the dos and don'ts which could help us succeed better as a first year teacher. Each point he made we were supposed to break down with our opinion and you just listed them. I wish we could see your comments for each of them. I do like that you told us your favorite point was that we need to listen to students. I also do not know what your interview was connected. However, good post overall.

  3. #1. You need a header to separate your Blog Assignment from your Skype assignment.
#2. Lauren's feedback was because she was not wearing headphones. We have some ordered.
#3. The main thing about Mr.McClung's reflective post was not what he said, but what he did. He made a very serious attempt to reflect on what he had learned. It is thoughtful, organized and well done. That is what we want you to do when. Be a self-relective, lifelong learner.
